Alex Watson is a fiction writer and poet from Syracuse, NY, currently based in the Hudson Valley. She is the co-founder and board president of Apogee Journal, which won a 2022 Whiting Literary Magazine Prize, and for which she received the 2019 PEN/Nora Magid Award for Literary Magazine editing and the 2023 Platinum Review Award from the Council of Literary Magazines and Presses. She holds an MFA in fiction writing from Columbia, and a BA in English and Literary Arts from Brown. Alexandra is a Senior Lecturer in first-year writing and creative writing at Barnard College, where she has won multiple awards for her innovative teaching. She has had poetry and fiction published in The Nation, The South Carolina Review, The Rumpus, The Common, [PANK], Redivider, Nat. Brut., Asteri(x), The Offing, Yes Poetry, and The Bennington Review.
